Well, I think that's dumb.'I love you is a pretty broad statement that means a lot. Sometimes it's a statement that could really make or break somebody. Sometimes, it's just really what someone needs to hear.
I feel like we should say 'I love you' more often and to everyone we care about. Say it platonically to your best friend, or even just your friends in general.
I have a few friends that think the same with me on this stuff. They tell me 'I love you' and I think it's great. I'll be having a bad day and be talking to them and all of a sudden they'll send "I love you" and it instantly makes me feel better. Honestly that 'I love you' even when it is platonic makes me feel a million times better than any amount of reassurance could. It says, 'I care.' 'You are not alone.' 'You mean so much to me.' and a million other things all wrapped up in one sentence.
So I remember that. And I tell my friends I love them all the time, male and female. That's also a pretty good way to know if I truly consider you a friend or not, by if I tell you I love you or not.
But anyway, life is short, and if you love someone, you should tell them. Regardless if it's romantic or platonic or if they're male or female, because love is love. You never know if you have tomorrow and the worst thing that can happen is they don't feel the same. And if they don't, who cares? You're a masterpiece and they're just not the right person to comprehend your art.
And just to wrap up...
I love you!
(as cheesy as that may sound.)
