Open-Campus Lunch

Alright, so I am one who is an advocate for open-campus lunch in the Neosho system for the high schools. The school is right on the boulevard in front of all these delicious fast food restaurants, but we aren't allowed to go in them.
What I imagine is going through the school districts mind
If that isn't a true game of 'Nanny nanny poo poo' then I don't know what is. Like here are all of these great and yummy food sources that are less than 100 feet away, but you can't go to them. Instead, let's have you eat this school food, that doesn't even look edible really and even prisoners receive better food. Then, if that wasn't bad enough, a lot of times the teachers go to the fast food places and get food for themselves. So not only do we have to eat out nasty prison food, we also have to watch the teachers eating their tasty Sonic sandwich.

To prove a point here's photos of prison and school food side by side.

So as you can see, it's pretty obvious we are literally not fed much better than prisoners. The scum of the earth and our society's future are fed alike. But we can't eat Mcdonald's if we so choose, when it's literally so close we can see it outside of the windows of the school.

Now, the school's argument that I hear often is kids getting harmed when crossing the street, or kids just not returning. Most of the kids that are walking over during lunch are probably going to walk over after school to hang out with their friends as well. I'm sure it's not their first time crossing the street. So please cut us a little slack and have a little faith in us. Treat us like the adults you expect us to act like.

Also if kids don't return, there's truancy for leaving school that they'd have to deal with, and yeah, I'm positive there are a few kids who won't return. However, a few will eventually get caught, and it will scare a lot of people from doing the same. Then the others that don't return, let's face it, they were probably going to leave anyway, or hide in the bathroom. So regardless of this rule, you're going to have kids who don't come to class.

I remember this was also a very popular subject in debate and I always loved it as a topic.
