Pen and Ink

How did people use to write like this all the time? 

I have recently just started art this semester and for my first project, I decided to use pen and ink. I'd never used them in real life or had even seen it. I'd always wanted to but I thought I was just something for me to dream about. Well, now I kinda wish I would have continued to just dream about it. 

Okay, not really, I actually thought it was a lot of fun, but at the same time, it was really hard. It made me super anxious to use the pens since it felt like I was just cutting into the paper and so in my mind, I was worried that it was going to cut too much and then rip the paper and then all my work would be ruined. I also felt like I was getting either to much ink or not enough ink most of the time. 

Even though it was a bit difficult it was a pretty fun experience and I'm excited to get to do it again.
