GIOTF Chuck Palahnuik

Chuck Palahniuk is my favorite author. He's one of those authors that everyone knows, but no one knows they know them. I'm going to break the first two rules of Fight Club because I'm going to talk about it. But yes, I'm sure it may come as a shock to many, but Fight Club was originally a book long before it was the Brad Pitt movie.

But most people, even if they haven't seen or read the movie or book, they have still heard quotes from it. Like the most popular one, from the gif above. So I'm not going to get too into the whole Fight Club thing because I could have an entire blog post about Fight Club and nothing else. My point is, a lot of times most people don't even know that Fight Club was a book before it was a movie, and if they do know it was a book there's no way they can name the author. And I for one believe that's a tragedy in itself. Chuck Palanuick I believe is a great writer and definitely deserves more recognition that he gets.

He also is the writer of my absolute favorite book, Invisible Monsters. There are two ways to read this book. There's the normal way, just front to back. But there's a second version that Palahnuik later released called the Invisible Monsters Remix. How this is read, at the end of each chapter it will tell you to skip to chapter whatever. It gives 0 page numbers, you just have to find it. There are also many chapters that it never tells you to read, so it's wise to write down what chapters you've read or else you're going to miss out. And if all that isn't confusing enough, there are also several chapters that are written backward, so I suggest a to keep a mirror around to make reading as simple as possible, that is when you're reading backward.
Now there are these two books, Survivor and Beautiful You.
There's really no way to reasonably explain these books and make them sound normal. Both of these I would say are more mature books. Survivor could easily be put in the pre-teen section and not cause a big deal, but Beautiful You honestly should probably be put in an 18+ section.
Survivor is pretty weird. It starts off and the main character is born into a cult. The cult has weird rules where only the oldest can stay, and everyone else gets thrown out into the normal world. Everyone has the same first name in this cult too. But anyway everyone's supposed to commit suicide at a certain point of time and you're supposed to kill yourself as soon as you find out the time has come. The catch, you can't use communication devices. No phones, radio, TV, etc. So obviously many people missed the time to die and they just never did it. So now a whole bunch of them are in counseling and they're slowly killing themselves anyway. That's as much as I'm going to say before I get to into it and start giving out spoilers.

Beautiful You. Sex toys. That's what the book is about. Some guy is trying to perfect sex toys so that women will never have to have a man ever again. He learned some techniques from a Sex Witch who resides in the top of Mount Everest or some big mountain like that and now he's practiced on hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of women. And now women are enslaved by sex toys. Again, I'm going to stop there before any spoilers happen. I will say that it's one of those books that definitely makes you say "WTF did I just read?"

So yeah, these are all great books to read. I would highly suggest if you're mature and able to follow a bit of complexity.

I'm going to add a bunch of book quotes just because I love them so much.
